How to Renew a US Visa in the Philippines
Many Filipinos can renew a US visitor visa without a new embassy interview through the Interview Waiver Program (often called "dropbox"). Here is how it works.
Interview waiver (dropbox) eligibility
- You are renewing the same visa category (most commonly B1/B2 tourist/business).
- Your previous visa is still valid or expired within the allowed window for interview waiver applications.
- Your previous visa was issued in the Philippines and you were fingerprinted.
- Your previous visa was not lost, stolen, cancelled, or revoked.
- You have not been refused a US visa since your last issuance (or any refusal was later overcome or waived).

What you need
- Valid Philippine passport plus the passport containing your previous US visa.
- DS-160 confirmation page with barcode.
- Appointment/interview-waiver confirmation from the US visa information service.
- One 2x2 inch photo meeting US visa photo requirements.
- MRV fee payment receipt.
- Supporting documents showing purpose of travel and ties to the Philippines (employment, business, finances).
Steps
- Complete the DS-160 online application form and save the confirmation page.
- Create a profile on the US visa information service, answer the interview-waiver questions, and pay the MRV fee.
- If eligible, you receive interview-waiver confirmation and drop-off instructions instead of an interview appointment.
- Drop off your documents at the designated document delivery location.
- Wait for processing and receive your passport back with the renewed visa.
